A while ago, 30 thousand CNN Money readers participated in a poll that asked: “The 2008 Fortune 500 comes out Monday. What big company would you most want to work for?”
The choices were between Google, Starbucks, Whole Foods Market and Nike. Who won?
The winner* attracts more prospective employees. This allows it to have a first pick from the best. The best employees are more likely to make a company even more successful than the worst.
Then, the cycle repeats itself. The winner attracts more prospective employees and so on.
*The winner can be a sales leader, the most recognized brand, the most popular employer and so on. In other words, the company that wins the race it’s competing in.
