Money vs Vacation

by Jean Biri

People have different motivations. That includes employees, suppliers, customers, shareholders, prospects and other individual business stakeholders.

Most entrepreneurs, yours truly included, tend to think that money is the ultimate motivational tool. We think that the right price is an offer no one could refuse.

But, it turns out that money is not the only incentive that people respond positively too. Some employees for example, will choose an extra week’s vacation over an extra week’s pay!

“What exactly motivates the person I am trying to sell my idea, product or service too?” is a question that an entrepreneur should always have an answer to before starting the sales process.

That’s a lesson that the airline industry should learn. A great deal of travelers don’t mind the fare hike as long as the service is improved and the annoying extra fees eliminated.
