Flaunting Fresh Thinking

by Jean Biri

I was talking to a friend whose dream is to start her own design company but who’s hesitant to get started because she believes that she has to stay a couple of years at her current big company to obtain enough credibility to set shop on her own.

This is how most people in most professions think. It’s an old practice to the apprenticeship concept dates back to biblical times!

It’s one thing to stay at a big company to gain work training (i.e.: how to do the job) and it’s another to fear that no one will want to do business with an unknown person or entity.

While it’s true that most clients do not like to deal with newbies and I admit that they are a priority, others like to work with new blood because they value for instance fresh ideas.

Some people are PC, the mass platform and some are Mac and Linux, just to because they’re the differing option.

With that in mind, creative professionals who are just starting out should actually flaunt that difference as a being tomorrow’s hot stars.

That overall marketing idea should allow you to hit the ground running. Remember, Steve Jobs is still a billionaire with less than 10% of the computer market.
