Cash In On The Mac Intel Inside Announcement

by Jean Biri

“Apple to Use Intel Microprocessors Beginning in 2006”. Millions of Mac users came across this headline today. Over 3,800 of you Mac software developers were there when Steve Jobs announced the news or dropped the bomb (depending on your perspective). The question now is: What are you going to do about it? Or exactly, how can you capitalize on this announcement?

If my understanding of the situation is correct, the Mac OS developers will have to make some changes in the way they write their software codes. Don’t laugh at my simplistic understanding please; I am a marketer and not a technical writer ;). Anyway, I don’t really know what the implications are, if this is good news, if it’s bad, if we should all move over to Linux and/or if our Macs are doomed. And I know that millions of other Mac users are asking themselves theses questions assuming that they got wind of this piece of news.

This is where you come in.

If you’d like to earn some media coverage about you, your software and/or your company, this is the time to send press releases to computer related columns, magazines, blogs and all other publications offering to provide your insight knowledge. Explain how you can help readers understand the impact of this rather shattering news (looking at how crazy the forums are today!!!).

Most computer related publications write for the technical user in mind. But such a person amounts for a low percentage of the overall Mac user base. We, mere mortals, want easy-to-understand information that will help us understand what’s going on. Don’t sleep on this! The Intel powered Macs craze will go on for a bit. Send those story ideas to the editors and you will cash in on the publicity.

Now, I need to go find somewhere where I can find exactly what the implications are because my friends are knocking at my door and I am clueless. I keep telling people that I am more on the marketing side of things and it seems that they do not register!

What? You’re still here? Whip out those news releases. Hurry!
